HONDURAN RELIEF EFFORT
WRIGHT UCC CHRISTMAS GIVING
Huge Response to Honduran Relief Effort
Wright Church has proven itself to be a radically generous and compassionate church once again. So far, we have raised $5300.00 from the congregation and the church is matching $5000.00 to make a total of $10,300.00! Our gift will go to Faith and Humanities Mission who will use 100% of the funds to help the people of Honduras who are struggling with basic needs after two hurricanes wiped them out in November.
Listen, my beloved brothers and sisters. Has not God chosen the poor in the world to be rich in faith and to be heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him?
We are witnessing the great faith of the people of Honduras who have so little in terms of earthly wealth but have an abundance of faith in God to care for them in their time of need. They are caring for each other, praying constantly, working tirelessly to clean up the rivers of mud, sharing whatever they have with those who might need it more, and still joyfully celebrating how good God is to them! You, Wright Church, are answering their prayers through your giving and we in turn have the opportunity to learn from them how to live in humble gratitude even in the worst of times.
I marvel at how God works in the world and this time God has chosen us. What a privilege it is to participate in God’s great work in the world.
MEET THE FAMILIES WHO WILL DISTRIBUTE OUR GIFTS
Jorge Encalada: Jorge is married to Aleyda and has three children: Juany, Josue, and Aleydita.
Jorge started a school 4 years ago because the gangs were encroaching into his neighborhood.
There were kids not going to school. He and a medical student started a nonprofit called Action for Education that helps support that school and a nursing school in another city. Jorge has a deep faith, does all with enthusiasm and good humor.
& ANA BELISLE
Jorge has a great sense of humor. He is humble and can fix anything!
Ana has been the cook for mission responders for many years. Her traditional baleadas are something we all look forward to enjoying! Ana shares love with every meal!
Their three adult children are also helpers, especially their youngest, Charlie!
& LOURDES CHAVEZ
Jahleel and Lourdes have very little themselves. Jahleel is a middle school teacher. Jahleel has worked with the mission clinics for many years.
During our time in country Lourdes works with the Randalls' daughter in the pharmacy. Jahleel also works as a pastor, and their church gave to flood victims with little resources themselves. Jahleel’s parents lost everything in the flood and are living with Jahleel and Lourdes. These two are true servants, humble and full of faith!
MEET JORGE GONZALES
Jorge is working in a church offering shelter in Calan, a village hit hard by both hurricanes. Covid cases are rising with many people in close conditions.
